2009 Pinewood Derby Another great day was had by all that attended the Pinewood Derby on Sunday January 25th. All of the cars really demonstrated creativity and hard work. Be sure to check out the pictures!
November Pack Meeting and Parade The November Pack meeting was loads of fun. Mr. F. gets the good sport award for having pies among other gooey goodies squished in his face. Despite a freezing cold night, Pack 119 braved the elements and showed their holiday spirit in the Clinton Parade on December 5th. Mr. F then hosted the boys for a little gathering. Lots of pictues here:
Halloween Pack Meeting Another great Halloween party was had by all this year. Check out some pictures!
Camp Bernie - A "Mountain" of Fun!
Another great visit to Camp Bernie was had by all. Many challenged their nerve to a trip up the Rock Wall. Click on the picture above to see the rest of the Camp Bernie Album.
JOINING PACK 119 Any boy in the first- through fifth-grade is welcome to join Pack 119. Den’s begin forming in early September, but a boy can join Pack 119 at any time during the year. There is a lot of information on both Cub Scouting and the Pack 119 program in our Parent Handbook.
Kindergartners may sign up to be Tigers in May and begin June 1 . The boy’s parent must fill out a Cub Scout application, which can be obtained from the Cubmaster, Pack Committee Chairman or at the Pahaquarra District – Central New Jersey Council offices.
Registration
The registration fee for joining Pack 119 is $55 per year. This fee pays for registration with the Boy Scouts of America, unit insurance, an annual subscription to Boys’ Life magazine, and leader training. The registration fee should be turned in to the Cubmaster or Pack Committee Chairman along with the Cub Scout application.
To join Pack 119, a Cub Scout Application needs to be completed and are available for download.
The Pack usually meets the last Friday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Union Township Middle School located on Perryville Road in Pittstown.
Uniforms
An essential component of Cub Scouting is the uniform. Cub Scouts are made to feel part of a group and have a place to display their awards when they wear their uniforms. The “Class A” uniform in Pack 119 consists of a blue uniform shirt (Webelos may wear tan shirts with blue shoulder tabs) with all patches (Council, Pack number, Den number, World Scouting insignia, and rank), appropriate neckerchief (orange for Tigers, yellow for Wolves, blue for Bears, and plaid for Webelos), and a neckerchief slide. Hats and belts are optional parts of the Pack 119 uniform.
Other Needed Items
New Scouts should also purchase the appropriate Handbook for their rank. Uniforms and Handbooks are available at Flemington Department Store, Efingers or on-line at www.scoutstuff.org/bsasupply. In addition to a uniform, one needs to purchase a Handbook for your boy’s rank. Boys in the first grade need a Tiger Cub Handbook, second-grade boys need a Wolf Handbook, third-grade boys need a Bear Handbook, and boys in the fourth or fifth grade need a Webelos Handbook.
Scholarships
Please note that Pack 119 believes that financial concerns should not prevent a boy from enjoying Cub Scouting. If you have concerns over the cost of joining the Pack, contact the Cubmaster or Pack Committee Chairman. All such discussions are kept strictly confidential within the Pack Committee.
2008-2009 Registration If you have not already registered for cub scouts this year, make sure you get your registration form in! You can download it here and fill it out. Send it in quickly so you don't miss any of the fun!

Washington DC Trip was Great! We're back from Washington DC! The trip was fantastic from the great bus driver, to the well orchestrated itinerary, to the nice hotel with super cool pool! Jens Duerr and Tricia Garanzini did a great job planning this trip for our pack. The boys had fantastic behavior and seemed to really enjoy themselves, with both family time and pack time. Well Done! As a pack, we visited The White House, the National Archives and the Air and Space Museum by Dulles Airport. On Saturday, The boys received special treatment when visiting the National Archives and were able to sneak to the front of the line to see the Declaration of Independence. The guard must have a real soft spot for boy scouts! We had a mixture of crazy weather that day, but much of the day was sunny and beautiful, another nice treat after a long winter. On Sunday the boys enjoyed a guided tour of the fabulous Air and Space Museum. They saw the actual Enola Gay, a Space Shuttle and many, many other aircraft and space pods. Some boys attended the IMAX theatre for a movie on The Forces of Nature while still others tested their flight skills in one of the many flight simulators. Look at all the other crazy pictures from the weekend! .
So long Webelos, and thanks for all the fun! Our Blue and Gold extravaganza was fantastic, thanks to a lot of work from our hosts, Webelos II den parents and all our Pack leaders. There were lots of cool awards that the scouts earned, fun entertainment by Kinetic Kyle the Mad Scientist and some really funny videos by the Webelos II Den (Did they say "Fire?")
The highlight of the day was the Arrow of Light Ceremony. All nine (nine!) of our Webelos II scouts earned Cub Scouting's highest award. In fact, it's the only Cub Scout award that can be worn on a Boy Scout uniform. We hope our scouts will wear theirs proudly as they become Troop 200's newest patrol.
Thanks to all the parents and scouts who made the day such fun and so memorable. We bid a sad farewell to not only our bridging Webelos, but to some great scouting parents who will be leaving our Pack with their sons. Thanks to outgoing Cubmaster Mr. Grunden, Pack Committee Chair Mrs. La Tournous and Webelos Den Leader Mr. La Tournous. We hope to see you all around the campfire sometime!
Webelos 2 Den conquers Jugtown Mountain The Webelos 2 den went on a winter hike to Jugtown Mountain Nature Preserve. We had a great time enjoying the trail, the beautiful view of the valley below and some very cool ice crystals that formed in some old logs.
The boys ran their own hike and made all their own decisions, including which trail to take, how to follow it and orienteering their way back to the trailhead -- all flawlessly. Who says you can't have fun outdoors in the cold? We say "bring on the Klondike Derby!" Check out a couple pictures Mr. La Tournous snapped with his iPhone here.
NASA's Space Place
When Mr. La Tournous was a kid, he wanted to be an astronaut when he grew up (OK, he still wants to be an astronaut when he grows up.) If NASA's Space Place was around back then, he might have gotten his wish. Whether you're a Tiger, Wolf, Bear or Webelos, Space Place can help you with achievements and electives, including belt loops and pins. Plus, it's got games, projects, cool animations and a lot more. Be sure to check it out!
Welcome to our Pack website!
Cub Scout Pack 119 serves the boys of Union Township and the surrounding area in northern Hunterdon County, New Jersey. As with the National Scouting Program, it’s our goal to provide a program that offers young people responsible fun and adventure; instills lifetime values and develops ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law; trains young people in citizenship, service, and leadership; and serves our community and its families with Scouting’s quality, values-based program.
Plus, we have a lot of fun!
Play online games at the Boys’ Life website
We found some games you can play right online at the Boys’ Life section of the BSA website. There are a lot of good ones, but so far, the Archery game is our favorite.
